problem creating new document in Photoshop 7, Windows 2000

Hi,

I am having a problem creating new documents in Photoshop 7. Although I can open old documents just fine, every time I try to create a new document the program crashes.

I am currently running Windows 2000 and have all of the Windows updates. I have not downloaded any Adobe Photoshop updates though. Could this be the problem?

If anyone could help I would surely appreciate it.
