I created a logo in Illustrator 10 and am trying to open it in Photoshop 7.0. The logo is done in 100% black but when I open it in PhotoShop it appears grey. I was going to play with the color by adding a layer above, filling it with a solid color and trying different blending methods but it won’t let me fill the layer. It will, however, allow me to paint on the layer, though it seems to use a much less saturated version of the foreground color (as though it were making some kind of adjustment for out of gamut values). It’s CMYK, so that makes some sense, though I don’t remember those adjustments being made automatically in the past. Anyway, I’m most puzzled by the fact that PS won’t let me fill the new layer I created above the logo layer, which it changed from black to grey. The "Preserve Transparency" button is not checked. Anyone have any explanations? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help!
