I installed CS and am having a problem with the proof setup.
The Proof Setup dropdown menu item "Profile" offers me a list of .icc profiles including most, but not all, of those I created. Several that I created in the last week or so are missing from the list. For example, one of the missing ones has a similar, but not identical, file name to another one that is in the list. I also created a new .icc profile with a totally different name than any on the list, but it does not show up in the Photoshop dropdown list.
All of the .icc profiles are in the Windows XP system32/spool/drivers/color folder.
I have restarted CS, rebooted, etc., etc.
All of my profiles including the new ones are available in my other applications.
What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for the help.

First of all, the filename doesn't matter at all -- what you see in the menu is the description tag from inside the profile.

Thanks, but that doesn't answer the question of why I can't find the missing profiles (the descriptions in the missing tags are different from the descriptions of those profiles that are not missing.)

Did you install the profiles, or just copy them to that directory?
Windows wants them installed (it has to update registry entries).

I use Profile Prism to create the profiles. The last step of the automated process installs them into the directory. All of the other "findable" profiles were done exactly the same way.
Thanks again for the suggestion.

Hmm, then I don't know why they wouldn't be showing up.

I don't know either. Oh well, must be one of the great mysteries of life. If I ever figure it out, I'll let you know. Meanwhile, I'll just do my proofing in another application (e.g. Qimage).
Have a nice Thanksgiving.

One thing I do to check that profiles are properly installed, is to right-click on the profile file in the directory. If it has succesfully installed, the first item on the menu will be to un-install. If it didn't, it will be to install.
I do this as the software I used to use (a long time ago) didn't always properly install the profile after putting the profile in the directory.
YMMV,
cheers

The profile won't show up when it has different primaries than the image you want to "proof", e.g. a RGB image with a CMYK profile selected in the proof.

Thanks Klass,
I checked all of them and the first item for every one is "Install". Yet all but 2 of them show up in Photoshop.
I then went back, at Chris' suggestion, and rechecked the "Description" for the 2 that do not show up in Photoshop. I found that those 2 had different file names but had the same description. As a result, Photoshop would not display either of the descriptions. I then created a new profile with the same parameters as the other 2 old ones, then deleted the 2 old ones. Eureka, the problem was solved.
My thanks to you and to Chris.
