Multiple versions of an image in one Photoshop file?

Hello all. I would like to get multiple versions of an image into one photoshop file. For example, I'd like to have the following all in one file:

* Adjustment layer set for B&W version (Russell Brown method) * Adjustment layer set for color version
* Adjustment layer set for “sepia-toned” using Colorize box on Hue/Sat version * Adjustment layer set for Duotone version

Plus:
* An 8x10 flattened, USM'd final version of the B&W one * A 13x19 flattened, USM'd final version of the Duotone

I've figured out how to do most of this. The problem is with versions that require a mode change (duotone), or an image size change. I think both of these will apply to everything in the file which I don't want.

So, Photoshop gurus, is there a way to do this? Why would I want to? Because it would be really nice to have everything in one file, rather than wonder 6 months from now, which layer sets produced which separately save files.

Plus I could do things like move layers around to other image versions if I change a layer 6 months from now and like it better. Then I could produce a new 10x13 and compare it directly to my old 10x13 that is in the same file.

Thanks for any ideas on this.

In Photoshop CS, you could use named comps to store the layer set information used when saving out the individual files.

No, Photoshop can't pack multiple images into the same file - different views of the same image are now done easier with comps, but things that require resizing or mode conversion will need to be saved out in separate files.

Consider packaging up all the files into a .zip package for easier maintenance later. Combining that with named comps (and using the comp name in the saved out file as well) will let you keep things straight.
