Just a little Phtoshop CS fun. Hold down the ctrl+alt keys and click on help>about photoshop.

Yep, I checked that out just after installing PSCS. I'd be curious to know who the ladies on the 7th floor are. That's not even right, but I remember seeing a tribute of a similar sort that invites one to wonder who they are. If I was home right now, I could be more specific.

Sure it is 7th, I saw a Goddess and some Princesses on the 10th floor.
I particularly like the very last line ...

You get something funky when you do this in Photoshop 7 too, but I'm too dense to understand what it means, exactly........

If it is the scrolling you are talking about, you don't have to use the Ctrl and Alt keys, just click on Help>About Photoshop and wait about 10 to 15 seconds and it will scroll. However the window design is different when you use Ctrl + Alt. I like the last line too. Sort of makes you fell all warm and fuzzy.

Kinda makes you feel special! Nice touch, Adobe.

If you try the same principle of keys with Illustrator CS, you have Venus back!! Although, as long as you leave on screen ...

Now this is a cute one even if it take a bit of time. Open Elements then go to > Help > About Photoshop Elements. Now sit and watch. Pretty soon all the patent numbers start to scroll. Credits are given to everyone involved with Elements including Goddess, Queen and Princess of he 10th floor. It scrolls and scrolls and scrolls some more. Finally at the end it says "Extra special thanks go to Grant Dixon, one of our favourite customers" I assume you will have your name in place of mine.
Grant

Nope, mine says Grant Dixon.

Maybe everyone knows this but in the E3 Editor goto the Layers palette, hold down the Alt key and go to the Palette Options.
How many man hours did this take to develop and why??

Hi Colin,
That easter egg has been around since, at least, Photoshop version 5. "Merlin" was the code name of an early Photoshop version and the "eye" next to Merlin in the drawing is also an early Photoshop logo.
This is a pretty simple easter egg. It probably took much longer to make the drawing than it took to add the code to do the pop-up dialog box. You can add a dialog box such as this in a few minutes if you've already got the artwork.
Why? Bored software engineers? An homage? Those who know haven't said. It is interesting that it's been retained through the subsequent version releases.

.... Bored software engineers.. is probably the best answer.... I recall seeing a program on art work found on tiny tiny chips inside of processors etc etc... some of it very detailed... I guess some may say the reason for it is because they can......
