I have a pretty well calibrated Epson stylus printer. It does veer into the green in some shadows sometimes, but it’s mostly good. If I use it to make a grayscale target, and then use that to make adjustments to pictures taken along with it, and print back to the same printer, is that color management kosher? Or will it accentuate any possible aberrations that might creep in during the process, such as the green cast?

Make the grayscale ramp on matte paper using black ink only. I print off a target page with 4 tones. Use the highest print resolution, probably 2880. The target will work fine. The matte paper doesn’t have the reflection problems. The black ink is as black as you are going to get. After dropping my Kodak ramp in a puddle, I decided DIY is good enough.
