could not save as because doc is open

When I try to save in Photoshop 7 I get an error message: could not save as C:\...because that document is currently open. Save with another name or close document and reopen. This is a file I have made changes to and I don't wnat to close it without saving my changes. I try to change the name to something else and still get the message. How can I fix this. thank you. Jay

You say drive C in your question, but I wondered if you were really working on an image that was on a CDR. Then, you wouldn't be able to save it on the CDR. You would have to save it with a new name, or save it on your hard drive. Lynn
