No scanner in "import"?

Why doesn't my Canon LIDE 30 scanner appear as a TWAIN source in the File>Import menu? In fact no TWAIN options are listed.

I have wiped and re-installed the Canon software and PS 7 several times now.

I had no such problems in the past. PS seemed to recognise a scanner was installed.

PS: The scanner works fine on its own.

When it worked in the past, was it with an older version of Photoshop or with PS 7? It could be that you need newer software for your scanner to be compatible with PS 7.

The reason I mention this is that I have a scanner which works with PS
5.0 or earlier but not 6.0 or later. An updated driver isn't available
so I have to keep an old version installed to do scans with it.

Maybe your scanner provides a separate plug-in for PS that needs to be manually dragged into the PS plug-in folder?

My AGFA worked that way...

There shouldn't be a problem. Did you follow Canon's directions for installing? It's very important to follow the correct order of plugging in the scanner, installing the software, rebooting.
I've got an LIDE20 and it showed up immediately in Photoshop under file>Import. Look in Windows>Twain 32 and see if it's there. That's where Photoshop is looking for the files.

Yes this used to happen with me and my epson

If you have Twain and Canon installed choose Canon.

Otherwise go into

Control Panel
Then scanners and cameras
Double click your scanner
and scan using the wizard then import the photo into adobe :D

To be in the P/Shop import list the scanner software must be Twain compatible, if it is not then you will have to scan outside P/Shop and use the open or drag and drop.
