I have a disk that has around one hundred pictures on and is saved in jpeg format. However when i try to double click on them they try to open up in adobe photoshop 7 and a message comes up stating that due to an unknown write in the jpeg format it will not allow me to open them up. I have tried to use a different program but everything fails to open them. It seems like they are there and they are no corrupted but why cant i open them ?
This disc is the only copy that i have of the pictures and would love to be able to print some off for her grandparents for christmas any one got any suugestions or ideas please.
Iam using windows 98 SE as the operating system.
Just a re-cap of what others have said in their replies:
1. Copy the files to your HDD
2. Attempt to open in other programs, as PS is really picky about JPG's. Irfanview, which is a freeware program, is not so picky, as is Ulead's PhotoImpact
3. Make sure that if the files DO open, you burn another CD. Though saving a JPG, as a JPG will cause some loss in quality, if you DO get them to open in another program, you might want to Save_As a high rez/low compression JPG for use in PS. I've had tons that gave same error in PS, but opened just fine in other programs. A Save from that program then allowed PS to Open them just fine. Just remember that a re-JPG'ed file will have a bit of loss.
Most of all, Good Luck,
