I am not familiar with the 1220C but a good forum for printer issues is: <
http://www.dpreview.com/forums/forum.asp?forum=1003> Most likely this is an issue with the HP printer drivers.

I have the following banner problem:
- Photoshop v 7.0.1
- Epson 2200 printer w/latest drivers & roll paper
- a wide file (29024x3200px = 96"x12")
- Print dialog, with 100% selected, reports the height as 5.168" and the width as 41.667" (bug?) in Landscape mode
If I change scale to 200%, the new size is 2.4" x 19.349" !? then resets to a max of 103.36% (still 5.167" x 41.667")
The printer is set for 13" roll paper, user defined size of 12.95 x 100".
I printed anyway, and sure enough the image is 5"x41" and 100" of paper came spilling out.
is this a PS bug? What am I missing?

What dpi did you have set in the document?
And yes, it sounds like a possible math problem - but I don't recall seeing it before...

300dpi; the pixel size is 298.9MB; size on disk is 492MB

When I try an image at that same size, I get 96.75 x 10.667 inches in the print preview dialog.
The only way I can get it reduced is to manually specify "scale to fit media" or manually specify a reduced scale.
And I couldn't specify 200% scaling because that would overflow the 30,000 pixel limit in Photoshop 7 and the OS printing APIs. (so it limits me to 103%).

Odd thought/thing to try:
What happens to the size if you save the file then print from another application such as Hamrick's VuePro?
I haven't printed anything past 18.5 inches long with my 2200, but (with Photoshop 6 and now with 7.01) I don't get the file will be clipped & bad margin error messages I get with Photoshop. And yes, the files ARE clipped, with incorrect margins, when printing from within Photoshop. VuePro produces print images the correct size. The same problem occured with the Epson 1270 and the same cure worked.
I believe you can download a trial edition of that (small size) at www.hamrick.com
