Whenever I use the text tool I get a gigantic cursor no matter what size the font is. I have never had this problem until a co-worker sent me a file that had the same problem. Now it happens on new documents of mine. I tried re installing but to no avail. So frustrating. My text types off the canvas and I can't find it.

Check the DPI for the document, and check the units you used for the text size.

Image is 150dpi, text is 6pt, cursor is approx 18" tall.

Look at the Character setting for Baseline Shift (left side of the palette, 4th one down under the Font Family name). Is it set to anything other than "0"?
If so, enter "0" in that field.
