I’m trying to make a logo that has the type wrapping around a globe. If you take a look at http://www.daveblaker.com/thoma/1260.htm (yes – very Universal Studios-like, but that what the guy asked for…) you can see that I’ve not quite been able to get the correct distortion on the words to make it look right using PhotoShop 7. I’m wondering if …

A). PhotoShop CS has some better tools for this…
B). Illustrator would be better (I don’t currently have it, and I find if frustrating to use, so I’m hoping for a PS solution)…

or C) do I need to resort to a 3D program to achieve perfection, and if so, which one (towards the lower end of the budget for now please)…

Thanks!

That’s not very 3D. Photoshop’s Text Warp and some Layer Styles should do it easily. Or the new Type on a Path I would think. You might even get something with the 3D Transform filter.

Ulead Cool 3D is a nice 3D type program that’s not very expensive and has many effects. There are lots of inexpensive or free 3D programs (Nendo and Wings are fun) but 3D learning curves can run high IMHO.

Man – I’ve been using PS along time – but I never used the 3D Transform filter! That got me MUCH closer to the result I was looking for. Thanks…!
