Can someone tell me
1. how can I check just my messages when I come back to this group. Is there a way to get responses to just my messages forwarded to me by email.
2. How can I lift someone’s signature off a page. Don’t worry it’s nothing illegal.

Q2. If it’s B/W use Mac’s Remove White filter (I suppose it’s only for windows), you can find it from

I meant: If signature’s background is white, doesn’t need to be B/W.

question 1 i have no idea about, but question 2 shouldnt be too hard…ive pulled up peoples signatures quite a few times before, and the easiest ways ive found are to either put the sig on a new layer and change the mode to darken and then adjust levels, or to put on a new layer and using the blending sliders in the layer style box…both of these work great…hope it helps.

(This is totally off-topic here. But anyway:)

Are you talking about NEWS or EMAIL?

In case you are talking about news: use a newsreader application (aka ‘newsagent’) via NNTP (network news transfer protocol) instead of googlegroups web-interface in a webbrowser via HTTP.

Using a newsreader (even MS Outlook Express will do) you’ll *subscribe* to the groups that you are interested in, and retrieve all the new messages (or at least their headers) in that group while you are online. Then you’ll be able to read and write offline.

Outlook Express will automatically mark groups/threads in red colour (IIRC) that are containing an unread response to one of your own messages.

BTW: a prerequisite for using usenet the way it is intended is access to a newsserver (nntp-server) that allows both retrieving and posting. Ask your internet service provider (ISP), he should offer you an account on his own newsserver.

Your newsagent (e.g. Outlook Express) has to be set up to connect to that very newsserver. You’ll send your messages there, and retrieve other people’s messages from there (newsservers exchange their messages
[forwarding], to make sure that messages are spread and available on any
nntp-server.)

… I won’t teach you all you need to know about usenet. Just educate yourself.

Regards,
Fred

#1 If you are using MS Outlook Express, you can ‘watch’ messages you are involved with. Click in the ‘glasses’ column beside a message to turn it on. Then click ON the glasses to sort those watched messages to the top of your list.
