Does anyone know of a good way to remove grain and noise within an image that was scanned from a negative using a Minolta Dimage Scan Dual III? After scanning and previewing the pic, look like there are small specks and hairs on the image. Have toyed around a little bit, but am still learning some advance features within PS 7. Isn’t there something inside PS 7 or a plug-in of some sort that does a great job with this kind of issue? Maybe something free or cheap? Do have some plugins like Auto Eye 2.0, but I am not getting the results I would like. Thanks for the help in advance.

Cadman_meg, You might try the free Polaroid dust and stratch filter to get rid of the small specks and hair <http://www.poloroid.com>.

Another free item ‘Digital Deluxe’ is a great photoshop action which reduces grain.

For around ($30) there’s Neat Image <http://www.neatimage.com/>

Next time, before scanning, get an anti-static brush; they’re available at camera stores that carry darkroom equipment. A pass or two over the film, and all the little bits of junk, except what’s stuck to the cardboard slide mount, will be brushed away.
