I am trying to crop a postage stamp from a picture of an envelope but however I try, the cropped image is only half of the stamp. The cropped image has only 4 handles on it (one at each corner) which makes it very difficult to alter the size of the cropped image.

How can I get 8 handles so that I can move each border independently? —

Perhaps I should have said that when I put the "crop" tool at the top left hand corner of the stamp and drag it vertically to the right, nothing happens till I start to drag it down when I get a 4-handled rectangle which comes half-way across the stamp even though the crop tool itself is well to the right of the stamp.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi Alasdair,

You may have some values in the width and height boxes which appear in the menu bar when you select the crop tool.

Delete the values and the tool should act as you want it.

let me know if it works,

R

Thank you ever so much. Yes it works but can you tell me why?

Glad it worked,

Sorry but one of the wise ones here may know why this happens but I haven’t figured it out yet.
