Anybody know how to get the impression of snow falling, into a photoshop image?

Anybody know how to get the impression of snow falling, into a photoshop image?

Make 2 new layers, both above your image.
Fill bottom layer with black.
Fill top with white.
Set the Blend mode on the white layer to Dissolve.
Set the Opacity very low. 1-3%, depending on how much snow you want. You’ll see the effect it has.
Merge the 2 layers.
Gaussian Blur the layer until the single-pixels become soft speckles. Set Blend mode to Screen.
Adjust layer Opacity to taste.
Voila. Instant snow.

I find it’s even a little better with about 6 pixels of 65 degree motion blur.

This works well.

I guess it depends on if you’re looking for friendly, floating falling snow or severe blizzard… The motion blur gives it that
coming-down-fast look.
