Adobe CS full version Vs Upgrade

Hello Everyone,

I am about to purchase the latest adobe cs package. Someone told me that I only have to purchase the upgrade version as I already have an older version of CS on my computer, from which I can use the same serial/License to register the new one. Is this accurate? If not what are the differences between the two?

??? There is only one version of CS so how can you have an older version???
