I’ve been using PSE2 for about a year, and haven’t really paid much attention to the recipes feature. Anyway, I started playing with it about a week ago, and found it quite handy, even though I’m fairly acquainted with how to do most things already. It’s nice to have a bit of a walk-through or reminder once in a while.

Thing is, whenever I try using the "download new Adobe recipes" feature, I get the following 2 errors:

First:
Unable to download list of Online Services.
Using most current list of services.

Second:

An unexpected error occured while communicating with the Online Service. Please try again.

I get the second one when I try the same thing through File –> Online Services.

I’ve now been trying again for about a week, with no luck. This isn’t critical, and I can definitely do without it, but since the feature exists, I may as well take advantage of it.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Same experience here. I’ve assumed it is a feature Adobe intended to implement but didn’t, or abandoned because of cost.

I’d agree with you, except that it worked for a friend of mine no more than six months ago. It’s strange. I’m not going to worry about it. The program’s easy enough to use without the tutorials, and the online help’s pretty good.
