Layers and History in CS3

I use ctrl+alt+z instead of ctrl+z to undo something. In the older CS1 (don’t know about CS2) when you did this, the selected layer stayed the same. For example, if you where working on layer 2, then changed to layer 3 and did some work. Then if you went back in the history after where you changed layers, it wouldn’t change the layer.

But in CS3 it remembers which layer you were on on every history event. This disrupts my workflow a great deal since previously I didn’t have to bother about it.

Is there a way to make CS3 ‘not’ remember what layer was selected for a history event?
