I have googled this and searched forums but cannot find working solution.

I am using cs2.

Created a new file with transparent background (150×75 pixels)

Drew a rounded rectangle shape and added new fill color layer.

Selected text tool and entered text.

In trying to move text to center, I can justify for horizontal but it will not center vertically. Text seems to hop up or down just off center.

After googling, tried to select both layers using ctrl key and then used menu drop down ‘layer>align layer to selection’. NO Luck.

That just seemed to make my color layer disappear.

Please let me know how to perform this simple task as I am ready to go Postal!

Do a "Select All" (CTRL + A).

CTRL + Click to highlight both your Shape Layer and your Text Layer.

With your Move Tool selected, look at the Options Bar.

Click on the Center Align icon(s) you want to use (Horizontally, or Vertically,..or both).
