I placed the license and activated it. then, when i try to run it it says license expired

Try to uninstall and re-install. For some odd reason, post-inputting the serial on a demo install will sometimes not work, as the license files that designate the trial period as such will not be overwritten. A re-install, while inconvenient and time-consuming, should make it behave.
