Hi to all-

I am a new user and have been enjoying this program immensely, although I have barely "scratched the surface". Since I have virtually no experience with PS, I am taking a couple of courses in the basics, working thru Adobe’s Classroom In A Book, searching for tutorials online, etc.

I would be very interested in finding out what methods others used when they started with PS.

Best regards-
Lee

Try Itunes podcasts. Lots of free video tutorials on photoshop. They can be viewed on your computers it does not require an Ipod. Some video are HD or near HD. Keep this in mind if you have dialup.

Hi Silkrooster-

Appreciate your response and the good information. I have heard of a couple of those sites and been there looking around, but will check out the videos. Have also heard of Lynda.com, which apparently has lots of video tutorials, etc., but haven’t been there yet.

Thanks again!

Linda.com does have free podcast so you can see the quality before subscribing as Linda.com is a pay site.

google: "photoshop tutorial cs3 [term]". don’t copy the quotes. replace "[term]" with whatever you want to learn, for example "curves".

Silkrooster, John, and Dave-

Thanks for the links and tips. With the use of google I have found many, many sites that offer tutorials, photoshop info, etc. So many things to learn!

Have managed to do quite a few of the tutorials (with the use of PS Help, to locate some of the tools, etc. that are used) and am presently working on using the pen tool. Found some excellent videos at youtube.

All the best-

I cannot get the feel of CS3 and am at home with my archaic 2005 version …lol

Any tips on getting past a stubborn, old-school mindset?

Thanks,

James

James…

Some folks seem to think I offered good advice in the following thread. Maybe you’ll get something out of it:
