Photoshop has web gallery templates built in. You just put your pictures in it and create a gallery from the template.

If you want to design and build a web site, Photoshop is not the right tool.

If you enter the title of this thread—along with the word "free" as search terms in Google, you should find a bazillion web site templates that you can open in Photoshop.

But as John said, Photoshop’s not the right tool to build a web site. Better you should wrap your head around a dedicated application, because at some point—usually sooner rather than later—you’ll need to know how to manually tweak HTML & CSS coding.

Kompozer is a robust and pretty full-featured app, and it’s free: <http://www.kompozer.net/>

Yes it is. You simply should not expect it to be the only tool.

Here are two good sites to browse:

<http://www.oswd.org/>

Many of the templates you can download include the original PSD files used to create the design.

"Yes it is"

Then you must live in the Amateur Centauri galaxy. Not that there’s anything wrong with that!

Photoshop is used by some web designers to create mock-ups of the look of the page.

Serious web authoring is something else.

I never understand why people need templates anyway. Don’t they have any ideas of their own?

Maybe professional designers should not use fonts, stock photos or clipart either.

That was a non sequitur if ever there was one!

Non sequitur?

Of course people have ideas of their own but they often incorporate or build upon other work by using templates, fonts, stock photos, clip art.

I can see why you have trouble following your own logic.
