Hi, Can any one help or point me in the right direction re lighting effects? Basically I have a white rectangle and I need to add a couple of red uplights using ‘lighting effects’, but the surrounding area goes black. I need to see the red lights but keep the rest of the block white.

I’ve searched online but can’t seem to find the right answer – maybe I’m not searching for the right phrase? Any help appreciated. Previous question here was answered with ‘use layer mask’ but no further info so still a bit lost.
