Memory could not be allocated

I removed Photoshop from my computer a few weeks ago and now decided I wanted to put it back on. I have Photoshop CS but my CD’s no longer work (thanks to my toddler they are totally scratched up). I had made backups a long time ago so I was trying to use those to reinstall photoshop. I don’t know if I’m doing it wrong, or if the backup copy I made was made wrong, but when I try to start Photoshop CS now it gives me an error "Memory could not be allocated". It tells me to shut down all other programs (of which there are none running) and try again. I’ve tried several times.

I really have no idea what I’m doing wrong. It worked on this computer before so I know the computer can run the program although not optimally. Any ideas or suggestions? Thanks!

See if there are any updates for your version… and buy a locking box to keep things away from destructive kids

copy the photoshop folder from the disc to your desktop and try running install from there. if that fails, you know either the disc (or drive) is bad…
