Hi
I am looking to getting new hardware.I am tempted to buy as much as I can afford 🙂 I want it all t be faster and betetr naturally.

My question:
does photoshop support multiple processsor cores?
I mean now with processors like intel 2 quad Q6600 (a processor that has 4 cores in case I am using the wrong terminology here, english is my second language) are all the resources going to be utilized by the program already?

Any recommendations on which hardware (PC) is worth considering?

Thanks

Sami

Sami,

I run PS on a Core 2 Quad (Q6600), and with one of the more complex filters, the Radial Blur filter, I can see all four cores deployed.

Note that Windows XP Home Edition does not support more than one processor. You’ll need Windows XP Professional to benefit from Core2 or Quad-Core processors.

Core2 Duo and Core2 Quad are still considered as one "processor" by Microsoft.

I said "cores".

Sorry SCraig, you appear to be correct. It’s "One Processor" regardless of the number of cores:
