recommended photoshop class?

I want to take a Photoshop class and was wondering if any of you might be able to offer some suggestions on how/where to do that. I live in Los Angeles. I am running Photoshop 6.0 on Windows XP. My friend wants to take the class with me, but she uses a Mac so I don’t know if the same class would be applicable, though I imagine the tools, functions, etc must work the same. Is that true? Anyway, does anyone have a class that they could recommend? I don’t know how that works, if there are nationally accredited places that hold classes in major cities, or if I should just sign up for something at a technical college or what. My general computer attitude is above average. As far as Photoshop goes, I’m basically a novice. What little I know I’ve picked up through trial and error. Any recommendations you can pass along would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I just got the Photoshop 7 Bible by Deke McClelland. Great tome that explains a lot. Take a look at it in any good bookstore. If you can follow the text you could be self taught.

Photoshop is almost identical in Mac and PC versions. The only real difference is the command/control and option/alt keys.
