Uninstalling PSE5 and the Existing PSE Catalog

My Adobe Downloader all of a sudden started negatively affecting my computer which has Windows Vista. Whenever I use the Downloader, it causes my computer to do a "physical dump" of some sort. At any rate, I figure that the Downloader somehow got corrupted and that I need to reinstall PSE 5 to correct the problem.

Here’s the question. I have an existing PSE catalog for my photos, and I want the reinstalled PSE 5 to work with that existing PSE catalog. Do I need to back up the catalog at this point and import it into the reinstalled PSE, or will the uninstall process of the existing PSE merely remove the program software and not the existing catalog?

Thanks.

Peter

Go to File/Cataloge and save your current cataloge where you can find it. When you re-install, go to File/Cataloge and click on Recover. Navigate to where you saved your file. I would not save it in the location Adobe recommends. Instead, I’d create a folder in My Documents so I can easily find it.
