Hi there,

I wonder if some kind soul could help me please?

I am trying to do a mock-up of a memorial stone to see what the finished layout looks like before any engraving takes place.

I need to add text to the blank half of the stone but I want to match the gold colour of the new text with that of the existing text – just doesn’t look right with one half yellow! ;^)

Is this possible and how is it done please?

An idiots guide would be most welcome…:-)

Am currently using PSE3 but also have PSE2 & 4 and CS/CS2 available if that is the only option.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks & regards,

Thanks for the quick reply Roy,

It really is as simple as that…:-)

….but…the gold colour I am trying to reproduce is not a simple colour – when I magnify it appears to be made up of a mixture of colours with almost a mottled effect to it…

Consequently when I use the picker it samples just that one particular spot which can vary from almost white to brown…

Is there any way I can possibly reproduce this complex gold colour?

Thanks & regards,

Try making a selection from the inside of your old text i.e. only the color not the letter itself. Try using the straight edge letters like ‘T’ or ‘E’ so that you get a big enough selection. Make selection a brush, click inside new text and fill from brush. I haven’t tried it so I have no idea if it will work 🙂

Thanks for the replies & ideas.

I managed to ‘proof’ the print with the solid colour and it turned out good enough.

The inscription has been engraved on the stone and it was refitted yesterday.

Thanks again for your time.

Kind regards,
