Two or three times I have saved an image only to go back to it in the catalog to find a symbol of a broken photo in its place. I’ve tried looking this up but I haven’t had any luck. Since I don’t know what it is, I really don’t know what I’m looking for. Does anyone know what I’m talking about?

Oh, I’m using 5.0, if that helps. Thanks!

It means the Organizer can’t find the photo. You’ll need to do a File>Reconnect to get it back in the catalog, assuming you didn’t delete it.
