I was taking some shots of a goshawk today using NEF+JPG at ISO 200 on my D70. The JPG seems correctly exposed, the NEF has the highlights burned out. I usually shoot at EV -0.33, and JPG Fine Large, but wanted to try to get maximum image control photographing this bird. Unfortunately, I seem missed my objective!
When shooting NEF, should I set the EV at 0 and only manipulate later in post-processing? Does setting underexposure throw the NEF off?
Thanks
Alan
