Using Elements 4, my catalog thumbnails show Tif files all black, however, they open in editor OK. Elements 3 did not do this.

Sorry I can’t help, but Elements 4.0 work for TIF’s for me.

Maybe you need to un-install and re-install or maybe there is a repair option. Of course there could be other reasons. BTW have you rebooted?
