PS Elements 4 not working

Using WinXP with SP2

Installed Adobe PS Elements 4 – worked for a few days and than every time I
try to use it I get the following message:

"The action You have requested could not be completed because the application is not responding. It may still be loading or waiting for response from you."

I re – installed, but still the same.
Any thoughts on fixing this?

This happened to me when I was running the "try before you buy" version that I downloaded from Adobe. It turns out that it had opened a dialog box in the background that was waiting for me to affirm that I wanted to either continue to use that version, or register it to ensure that it would work after the initial 14 day (?) trial. Hope that helps.
