problems uninstalling elements 2.0 (loosing icons in control panel)

I’m running XP and use the category view for my control panel. I just purchased Elements 4.0 and want to uninstall Elements 2.0 that came bundled with my camera. The problem is after uninstalling 2.0 I loose most of my icons in the category view of my control panel….they’re still there in classic view but that’s not what i use. I have tried uninstalling 2.0 both before and after installing 4.0 but have the problem no matter which way i try it…i have to do a system restore to get my icons back on category view. Just to highlight that i believe this is an Adobe Elements issue i have Elements 2.0 on both my desk top computer and my lap top and the exact same problem happens on BOTH computers when i uninstall. Any help you guys could give me would be great….i know i do not HAVE to uninstall 2.0 but I’m anal about keeping my computer clean and keeping a 150MB program on my computer that i would never use would drive me crazy. The programs are still on my computer and accessible in the classic view of the control panel…i didn’t look to see if they are still in the start menu but i would have to say yes. The icons that disappear in category view are the ones on the bottom under "or pick a Control Panel icon". For instance…click start…control panel…make sure your in category view……network and internet connections…look towards the bottom and you’ll see things like "internet options", "network connections", "network setup wizard", and "windows firewall" those all disappear after uninstalling elements 2.0.

Tried it both ways.uninstalling 2 first…installing 4…did a system restore so 2 was back…then installed 4 before uninstalling 2…same problem either way. And don’t forget i did this on both my desktop and laptop with the same outcome. Of course Adobe customer service won’t help because they don’t offer support for 2 anymore and it was bundled software that came with my camera.

Does anyone know any other forums that i could seek help?

Could all of this have something to do with Adobe Gamma being removed with Elements 2? Elements 2 installed the Adobe Gamma icon under the Apperance and Themes heading in control panel….and is uninstalled with 2 also…..so when it removes the icon for Gamma could it be also removing the other icons? Is Adobe Gamma not included with Elements 4?
