What is the best way to convert Color to BW in Elements 3?

I want a high contrast (Old BW) look.

Thanks.

I suggest you download and install virtualPhotographer, which will let you experiment with a wide variety of B&W (and colour) looks. It’s free, from http://www.optikvervelabs.com , and quite marvellous.

That will equate to just one of the possibilities virtualPhotographer offers. 😎

I like Virtual Photographer, but if you want to do a straight conversion: New layer over image, fill with white, change its Blend Mode to Color. You can then put a Levels layer between it and the image to play aroun with the colour channels.

Now that I like. 😎

Good, isn’t it? It was posted on the Adobe forum some months ago, so respect to whoever-it-was!
