I erased files by mistake. Is there a way to get at the thumbnails?

Having a copy of the thumbnails would be better
than nothing. I can do a screen capture and crop it
but there are a lot of them and it takes a while …
TIA : -)

Is it possible that you may be able to restore them from the re-cycle folder?

If you haven’t formatted or had a lot of drive activity, there are a couple of programs that may rescue the files. Search the internet for "PhotoRescue" or "FileSaver"
They may cost a few dollars but "PhotoRescue" saved a wedding for me a couple of years ago.
