PSE 3 Mac crashes on Launch

I have been using PSE3 Mac since it was released. Just today, the program will no longer launch. I have tried opening it from within iPhoto and on its own. The program seems to load fine, all the menus appear, and then it "quits unexpectedly," as the dialog box says.

I trashed my preferences, which made no difference, then trashed the program and reinstalled it. Still quits at the same point.

Any suggestions?

Well, um, uh, I THOUGHT I had trashed the Prefs, but I guess not. I trashed something other than the "Photoshop Elements 3.0 Settings" folder. Trashing that folder fixed the problem.
