photoshop el. 3 quits when doing File-"browse folders…"

IMAC 1.25ghz, 512 MO, 10.3.8
each time I choose "File-browse folders" , I see my files for 2 or 3 seconds and then PEL 3 quits without any pop-up telling what’s happening. the only way I can open a photo file is by "File-open…". Anyone has had this problem?

Well… A couple of years ago we had another Mac user with this problem. It seems he had allowed his iPhoto folder to become absolutely huge, and Elements was choking as it tried to generate all those thumbnails. My first question, obviously, is: Does this shoe fit by any chance? 🙂

Also, in the file browser menu, go to file>purge entire cache and see if that helps any.
