This makes me crazy: when I want to select a simple rectangle area on the left of my image, I put the cross on the edge of the image, click and … ziiiiiiiip the image flies to the right of the pane. I have to hit ctrl-0 to bring it again in the middle of the pane. What’s the trick to have the image stick in the middle and not fly away ?
thanks for any advice

I think he’s talking about the tendency of the picture to jump. Work on yer photo in minimized mode instead of maximized mode.

Try the view menu > command new view…

Does the image move when you are using the rectangle Marquee tool to draw a simple rectangle area? Also in the Lower right corner, indicates the magnification of the image? What size image are you using?

Right, it’s the tendency of the picture to jump.
Working in minimized mode does effectively fix this problem, but the window frame is quite annoying
