Can you recommend an entry-level 3-D modeler for basic package design?

I have experience with Illustrator 9 & Photoshop 6. Need to wrap flat Illustrator and/or Photoshop images (bag-front design comps) around a 3-D modeled bag – very basic shape + lighting. Not wanting to become an expert. Would prefer software that came w/ lots of pre-modeled shapes.

Looked at Carrara 3D Basics and Adobe Dimensions for W2K OS. Illustrator CS is supposed to have native 3-D capability. Other recommendations?

Thanks very much.

Carrara Studio (1, 2, or 3) or the 3D Basic version isn’t too bad – the interface is a bit strange if you’re not too familiar with any of the metacreations packages (Poser, Bryce). You might want to download the demos before making a decision. And speaking of Bryce – think Corel is selling the latest version really cheap – $70ish if I remember right.

Thanks,

Welcome. even though many say Blender 3D is tough to learn, I managed a first time creation with the help of Bart’s (an author of Blender) tutorial: http://www.angelfire.com/empire/abpsp/uni_stuff/unilogob1.jp g

Good luck.
