I have been using Elements since it came out.
Now have V.2. Starting about a week ago it takes
about twelve minutes to shut Elements down.
When I try to exit the program before shutting down my computer, it just runs, runs, runs….and finally it will
shut down.
Anyone have this problem? Resolution?
Thanks.

Me,

I have experienced that with a number of programs in the past… A lot of time it is a temp file associated with the program… you are trying to close. Have you done a through cleaning in a while?

Have a look at easy cleaner, it is a free ware, send him a donation if you adopt it use and it solves your slow situation. The other thing is sometimes, your preference file might be a bit gummy, and restoring it, may create a faster operation. That could change some of your setting.

Try house cleaning first, my two cents… However I would suspect it is your computer running slower with a morass of un-needed temp files.

Me or HP,

Now reset your preference file, since the house cleaning did not accomplish the fix?

In Windows, press and hold Alt+Control+Shift immediately after launching Photoshop Elements.
Click Yes to delete the Adobe Photoshop Elements settings file.

To delete preferences in windows, hold down the Ctrl, Alt and Shift keys immediately (key word Immediately) after you launch Elements.

You have to be fast, sometimes your fast needs to be quicker.

An alert dialog box will appear asking if you’re sure.

—– Still not fast enough with keys?

then the difficult or long way –

You will need to delete the old prefs file. Question how do you find it to be able delete the file?

Use the Search function of your OS and type in prefs. There will be a long list of files with that word in them, but one will be the one you need to delete.

XP use Start Button > Search . Remember to include hidden and system files

98 it is find…

Restart the program and it will create a new folder with the default settings…

However, a quick Ctrl, Alt and Shift keys makes life easier!
