Dual Screen "Problem"?

I have 2 Acer 1916W monitors.
My gfx card is an NVidia GeForce 8800GTS running in dual screen mode. I’ve not got it set up in span mode because when you maximise windows it spreads over both monitors which is just rubbish, it also stretches the task bar across both screens.

My problem is illustrated in the pics below.
I can drag open windows to span both monitors, but only if it’s outside the main Photoshop program window:

But when it’s outside the main program window, it "snaps" to the outside of it, it doesn’t float over the main program window.

If the window is inside the main Photoshop program window, it doesn’t span over both displays until I "snap" it out:

It’s almost enough to make me want to go back to CS2, because I didn’t have that problem! Is there any way I can stop this from happening and enjoy freedom of movement with my work windows?

Thanks.

this is new behaviour in cs3, not a problem with your card or driver.
