How can I keep the layers when I open the file created in CS2 in a lower version?

How about some more info? What format was the file Saved in? Are there elements that don’t exist in earlier versions, like Smart Objects? What is the earlier version? Was the file saved with Maximum Compatibility turned on?

The file originally created in CS2 saved as .psd, there is no Smart Objects. I was trying to open it in Photoshop 6 in office, all the layers are gone.

hmm… wasn’t there a bug in 6 that prevented it from opening cs2 files? i seem to recall a couple threads from about this time last year…

not exactly the same, but have the person with v6 try to open the file in image ready then resave them and see if that works…

Why don’t they have an option to "Save as" in a format compatible with future versions?

That would be handy! B)
