I use Illustrator CS2 and Photoshop CS3 regularly and often times I have to have them open at the same time. I have found that with Photoshop especially my system lags severely. I was wondering if just a RAM upgrade would help this or if my current set-up is stuck as is.

Pentium 4 2.8GHz
1GB RAM
256MB Radeon (PCI) (No AGP, 8x, or 16x PCIx slot)
52GB free space, so plenty there.

Of all that, all I can really upgrade is the RAM with how limited this case is. Would that help at all or are these just processor and graphics intensive applications, mostly?

You did not mention your operating system but 1GB of RAM is definitely holding you back, especially when opening both programs at the same time. Photoshop does much better with 2GB or more.

I agree. Photoshop works faster on my machine since I upgraded to 2GB RAM.
