I am using photoshop 7 on a pc with windows. I recovered nikon NEF files that I had deleted, using file recovery software but can only open a few of the files.

Some of the recoverd files obviously have no information inside them but some have 9.5mb of info which is the normal size of a nikon D100 raw file. I am hoping that the info is still in there.

I get an error message saying – cannot open the file because the file format module cannot parse the file – is there anyting I can do to get the file to open and recover my lost raw files.

Many thanks to anyone who can help
Paul

PS I can use photoshop but i am not technically skilled in this sort of thing so any answers please keep it basic and explain

Have you tried using the Nikon software that came with the camera to open it?

Paul

Try using ‘IrfanView’ to open it – it might work!

It’s free to download.
