I was wondering if it’s possible to fade a picture. I love taking sunset pictures and I like to use them for slideshow presentations and put words on them, but it would help if I could fade the picture a little bit. I can’t find info on this anywhere. Thanks!!

Hi Amy,
There is a number of ways.

For example, create a new layer over the Background > fill it with white (or some other) color > and reduce the layer opacity to 10-20%.

Or convert the Background to ordinary layer (Layer > New > Layer From Background) and then reduce its opacity.

Or just reduce the saturation with the Hue/Saturation dialog.

Whatever you do work on a copy and keep the original – don’t save the faded version over it.

Have you got Photoshop 4.0 or Photoshop Elements 4.0?
