This screen shot illustrates a strange display bug I came across today while prepping a bunch of files for web use and double-checking that they were actually in sRGB. In the Convert to Profile dialog, if you choose the same destination profile as your source, the preview in Convert to Profile acts like it’s making a completely different transform. The screen shot shows the original file above and the duplicate below with the C2P dialog open during the screen capture. The difference in preview is clearly seen.

All of this seems temporary as it disappears as soon as you hit the OK button and the History correctly show no action has taken place, but, it’s enough, especially when blowing through dozens of images on deadline, to make you sit up and take notice, wondering what is actually going on.

This is all in CS4 with the latest patch on a MacPro 2.8 running 10.5.6 with 14 gigs of ram, Nvidia 8800 GT video card and Open GL activated.
