I’m having a problem where photoshop is not displaying pictures the same as other viewers.

Here’s an example. I take a screen capture of a blog in Internet Explorer and paste it into a new Photoshop image:

You can tell that the photoshop viewing of the image is more washed out. I ran through the steps of calibrating Adobe Gamma, but that didn’t seem to fix the problem.

Any insight would be appreciated!

Unless your working space is the same as the image’s space you will see a difference – and in the case of scree-cap, the image space is your monitor RGB.

To see how an image will look in a non-colour managed environment, set your proof colours to Monitor RGB and view Proof colours.
