1. Open a image with one and only background layer. 2. Duplicate this layer. 3. Go to the duplicated layer. 4. Hold down SHIFT and doubleclick on the image with the cursor tool.
This will crash photoshop CS4 with latest update. I think CS4 is released to early.

I cannot replicate the issue. All that happens is that the Layer Style dialog box comes up, nice and smoothly. 😀
What kind of routine maintenance do you perform on your machine?
What specific troubleshooting steps have you taken so far? Have you Repaired Permissions with Apple’s Disk Utility? Trashed preferences? Have you run Disk Warrior?
How much total installed RAM? What % of available memory is Photoshop allowed to use (in Preferences)? How much total available hard disk do you have left, both in absolute terms and as a % of the size of the hard drive?
Is your machine on 24/7 (and not sleeping during the night) so that the Cron Scripts can run in the wee hours as intended by Apple? If not, do you run said Cron Scripts manually?
A lot more details are needed before we can help.

Hey Joakim, I’m not able to replicate this at all, either. As PShock initially asked, would you explain purpose of this keyboard/mouse combination? If it’s something that’s frequently used, it might warrant the "Really big stupid bug in CS4!" designation.
Ramon and DYP, how is it that you guys ended up with different behaviors? My test didn’t activate any menu or dialog boxes.
All that happens is that the Layer Style dialog box comes up, nice and smoothly.
Just a dialog box that says "Could not use the move tool because no layers are selected".
Hmmm I use it all the time. Didn’t know it’s supposed to be exotic.

In my experience, rudimentary has the connotation of #1 in the above definition (repeated below); rudimental stresses the connotation in #2 and #3.
