They changed the cookies to expire when you shut down your browser.

Part of that is to force folks to associate their forum ID with their Adobe ID, in anticipation of the new forums that will rely on the AdobeID only.

I don’t mind being forced, but it did not even recognize my Adobe ID which I have had for a decade or more. I’m still getting asked to re-register every time I try to log in every day.

Something is not clicking the way it should.

You aren’t really here G 🙂

For me, I just have to log in after I click the "post" button anymore 🙂

See the forum updates discussion if you are having trouble with your ID.

Your forums nickname might already be taken by someone else with an AdobeID, or it may be yourself and you are having trouble associating the two.

For an explanation of what all this is about, check the threads out in this section: <http://www.adobeforums.com/webx/.59b7db68/>

And to get a preview of the full horror that is about to be dumped on us, try this:

John Cornicello, "what’s going on now?!!" #64, 20 Feb 2009 9:57 am </webx?14/64>

which leads to:

"it may be yourself and you are having trouble associating the two."

That is really the only problem I am having. How does one resolve associating ones self with ones self when it is overruled in the court of hexadecimals?

Other than that, I don’t mind logging in as someone new each day.

Go to the forums forum and ask Forum Operations to set you up.

What we need is a stimulus package and a bail-out.

I used one email a long long time ago for my account. And set my screen name there. Then I guess I created a new account, probably because I COULD NOT REMEMBER THE PASSWORD AND HAD LEFT THE LAST ISP.

Now, when this happens, and you cannot be reminded of a password then you do as I did and create a new one. So I have two accounts because of the two email address used. One had the right name. But you cannot modify the email address without changing the screen name. I can intentionally change the screen name to free it up though so I can use it on the correct email address account.

But of course, while they turned off cookies and the like, on our end, they must have a cache that is keeping that info available and until it is purged, I cannot take the screen name from one account over to the correct account.

And strangest of all, the account with no screen name won’t allow me to use anything right now as a screen name. Nothing works.

So maybe other’s here are dealing with the same type situation.

I know there is a place to ‘go’ to discuss this but because it was a thread here thought I would go with it.

So even though I deleted the screen name randalqueen for now, I am still able to log in and pen under it. Go figure.

success, just be patient and eventually things will work. Today I managed to finally rename my screen name on one account, the one with the email I can no longer use, and move that screen name and link up to my other account. So those who are having trouble, just keep trying. Seems to finally take.

Good luck…

Good advice randalqueen, I’ve been able to log on today using my original name, thanks to the help of dave milbut. He simply recommended I trash the cookie bin and that worked.

I hope the purpose of the new forum software is to keep a certain pornographer from concealing his identity. But I’m afraid it’s just to give the same kind of web designers who use black backgrounds something to do.
I do not read forums that look like telegrams from the Galactic Federation. When I do a Google search for some techie crap, there are always pages from forums that look like Cornicello’s screen shot. These are invariably full of comments from idiots. Chicken or egg?
Then there are the forums that look like c code, ugh.
I might tolerate logging in twice a day for a while, but then again I may decide that reading about CS4’s dumbass printing problems is terminally boring and just quit coming here.
